Campus Change Campaign - Suspension and Expulsion

Talking Points

  • People go to college to learn important skills so they can get good jobs and become successful taxpaying citizens. Kicking students out of school certainly doesn’t help them, and it hurts society as a whole.
  • Being kicked out of school only increases the chances that young people will engage in drug abuse or resort to lives of crime, making society more dangerous for everyone.
  • If students are causing real problems, are endangering public safety, or are impeding the educational process for others, they can and should be suspended or expelled. But there’s no reason to arbitrarily kick students out of school just for getting caught with drugs.
